History of the Gare de Lyon
Initially, it was near the Port de l’Arsenal that a pier was to be set up, but the 1845 project was refused by the residents and postponed to the current location. The inauguration took place in 1849, but the Paris-Lyon line was only opened in its entirety in 1954. It was in 1955 that the pier gave way to the Gare de Lyon, larger and more adapted to the request. For the Universal Exhibition of 1900, the station had a facelift. This is the building we know today with its majestic Clock Tower.
Where do the trains go from Gare de Lyon ?
If at the very beginning of its history, the Gare de Lyon only led to Tonnerre and Montereau, it is today one of the largest stations in Paris. TGVs to the East and South-West of France depart from Gare de Lyon; just like the TGV to Switzerland, Italy or Spain.

Opposite the station is a taxi rank and on the boulevard, many buses have a Gare de Lyon stop: 24, 29, 57, 61, 63, 72, 77, 87 and 91.
